Re: Elystar brake conversion
---Previous message:--- : Hi, first time post I hope someone knows the diameter of the rear master brake cylinder because I am getting frustrated by the brake system failure.[...]
Hi Nick! Thanks for posting. However, chances are slim that someone might find your post _and_ have a solution soon, since the international section of this forum isn't visited a lot anymore.
Because I'm not a mechanic myself, I can't help you directly. My thought was to try and help by finding cheaper solutions. The ABS unit is indeed very expensive. I found quotes and prices of between 1,100 and 2,000 euros. But do you need a new part? What about contacting the seller of http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELYSTAR-125-ABS-Brake-Unit-2003-/300792415161 and see if he's still got the unit (or knows someone who does)?
Another seller: http://tinyurl.com/absunit , also on http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-JETFORCE-125CC-ABS-ANTILOCK-BRAKE-SYSTEM-/380348969454
Alternatively, I only know of several large scooter workshops in Germany and the Netherlands, that still have good knowledge of Elystar. You might want to drop them a mail asking your initial question (and/or asking them for a used unit instead). If you prefer that route, I'd suggest starting with the RollerCenter in Steinfeld (near Hannover Germany), although they are currently replacing their website. Contact their parts shop: et-verkauf (at) rollercenter.de or simply the info@-mailbox at rollercenter.de Should there be any language problem, then I'd gladly help translating messages.
